Read John 4:23-54
John 4:23
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks".
Jesus teaches several things here:
- "In spirit" points to the level at which true worship occurs (at the level of a converted heart). A spirit that is completely sincere and that is directed by the life and activity of the Holy Spirit.
- "Truth" is characteristic of God (Psalm 31:5, Romans 1:25), incarnate in Christ (John 14:6, 2 Corinthians 11:10), intrinsic of the Holy Spirit (John 14:17, John 15:26, John 16:13) and at the heart of the Gospel ( John 8:32, Galatians 2:5)
Therefore worship must take place according to the Truth of the Father that is revealed in the Son And received through the Holy Spirit. Those who advocate for a worship that sets aside the Truth and Teachings of the Word of God have in reality set aside the only foundation for true worship (Mark 8:27-29)

Prayer
Lord our God, we thank you that you have come to this earth. Let a light shine out again and again among those who hear your gospel, also among those with sincere hearts, whether or not they are Christians. May they come to know your light and receive salvation in Jesus Christ. May your light shine for us and may you appear to us ever more clearly. Remember all who call to you. Remember your people. May your people gather and become a light in your name, serving you wherever they go. Amen.
